Synthetic Users FAQ

In this article, you will find the frequently asked questions about Synthetic Users.

Which tags are generated once the model is created?

The image shows the tags generated once the Synthetic User model is created. You can click on each one to configure it in detail.

As mentioned in the guide for creating your model, you have the option to select individual tags while creating your model - in this case not all, but only the tags you selected, will be created.

Do the Synthetic User Tool changes and tags need to be published to be active?

Yes, once your changes are published, your model changes its status to GATHERING.

How many days does the model need to gather data?

To build a good model which can mimic your consented users at least 21 days are needed. This also highly depends on your traffic volume - if you have less than 300K sessions monthly on your website, it could take months for a reliable model to be generated.

However, once you start using the preview access, you will be able to see missed conversions already on the next day.

What do I need to do after the model has gathered enough data?

This depends on whether you opted in for automatic or custom modelling.

  • With automatic modelling, there is not much you need to do after creating it other than wait and eventually evaluate the uplifts in your campaign conversions. You will see its different statuses and once your model has reached an ready status, publish again. From this point onwards, when your model is shown to be ACTIVE, your model will be automatically applied to your website´s traffic and you will see the conversion uplifts in your ads tools.

  • If you opted for custom modelling, please contact your appointed contact person or the JENTIS helpdesk team and request that your model be activated. Once you see that your model's status has been changed to ready, you need to publish the current version of your tracking configuration on your JENTIS Platform again. From this point onwards, when your model is shown to be ACTIVE, your model will be automatically applied to your website´s traffic and you will see the conversion uplifts in your ads tools.

What else needs to be done after my model is activated and published?

You must ensure the tools you want Synthetic User data for are set to Essential Mode. For this, navigate to the Legal Hub menu → Vendor category and select each tool to be set to Essential Mode.

Next, you must go into the conversion tags of the tools you set in Essential Mode and the tag configuration itself. You should see the two configuration options for the tag - one for full consent and one for essential mode.

Do I need to measure and compare conversions without and with the Synthetic User model?

With the newest version of SU´s full access, you will be able to see a very detailed overview of how your performance marketing tools deliver conversions and what could still be optimised.

Recovered Conversions: this is the number of conversions that would have been lost without the use of SU, but you were able to recover with your model. Conversions recovered by Synthetic Users from non-consenting visitors. These additional conversions are sent to ad campaigns on top of those from consenting visitors.

Unrecovered/ Missed Conversions: Some conversions couldn't be recovered due to missing key data - such as campaign ID, click ID, or other identifiers - or because the model wasn't able to replace certain visitors with Synthetic Users.
