Tools in Essential Mode: which ones can fire client-side tags in essential mode?

During your usage of the JENTIS set-up and the feature “Essential Mode” (see https://docs.jentis.com/documentation/jentis-essential-mode ) you might have noticed varying behaviors of different tools when they are set up to work in Essential Mode. The general expected behavior is that only your pre-configured server-side tags fire with tools in Essential Mode.

However, there are exceptions to this rule : meaning that some tools are able to fire client-side tags in Essential Mode as well. The reason here is that some tool libraries allow for that client-side tagging to happen with essential mode consent. An example is eTracker.

Here´s a comprehensive list of the tools, which could fire client-side in Essential Mode.

Important to note is that the GTAG is also loaded because of GA4 and is therefore also fired under Essential Mode.

  • eTracker

  • GA4

  • Adwords

  • GADR

  • Floodlight

If you want a list of the single tags respective to these tools which would fire client-side under Essential Mode, please request it from our helpdesk team.

For the rest of our tools, the expected behavior applies: meaning no client-side tags should fire if the tool is set in Essential Mode and there is no explicit user consent for the entirety of these tools. (If you notice that client-side tags are being fired while these tools are in Essential Mode, please report this as a bug to our helpdesk - thank you!)
